The TowneBank 26-Mile Marathon

The weekend surrounds a single big event: the TowneBank Outer Banks Marathon – a challenging 26-mile full marathon along the North Carolina coast.
The course is mostly flat, and many points will run right up along the beach. The race will end in Manteo, with a huge crowd championing runners to the finish line.

Prizes are awarded for first, second, and third, including medals. Custom medals are awarded to all who finish the marathon. Food, live music and side events are available for the audience as this event leads directly into the holiday season.

The Half Marathon and Shorter Races

If a 26-mile marathon sounds too grueling, sign up for one of the other challenges. There are multiple other races to participate in, from fun runs up to a half marathon.

The Southern Fried Half Marathon is a 13-mile race. The 5K is just over 3 miles, while the 8K is a bit more ambitious at about 5 miles.
The Southern 6 is approximately 6 miles in length for those who want to enjoy a portion of the marathon. An up to four-person relay race is also open for families or groups who want to see what they are made of.

For those who like to push themselves to the limit, combine a 5K or 8K race with the full marathon or half marathon for the chance to place at the top of 2 races. All of these events are open to the public with a registration prior to each respective run.
