Why the Outer Banks is Ideal for Runners, Walkers and Cyclists

There are plenty of great locations for physically active people to enjoy all across the country. However, there’s just something special about the Outer Banks that makes this area perfect for indulging your fitness passions. Here’s what we mean:

  • The terrain around the Outer Banks ranges from flat to mildly elevated. This makes it ideal for endurance runners and walkers who push themselves to go the extra mile. Yet there’s plenty to challenge everyone, including novices. Both paved and unpaved routes are abundant.
  • The splendid scenery of the Outer Banks makes a perfect backdrop for vigorous and not-so-vigorous exercise. We have whatever you need to make the most of your time outdoors, whether you’re in the mood for a leisurely stroll or a demanding 20 mile marathon.
  • After your run, walk or bike ride, you can reward yourself with a dip in the ocean followed by a relaxing rest in a hammock. Or drop by your favorite bar or restaurant for a refreshing good time. We also have a great selection of gyms and spas for those who prefer to do their workout in climate-controlled comfort.

“Where Can I Run in the Outer Banks?”

The answer is, “just about anywhere!” Most public places are either free of motor vehicles or designed for multi-user access. If you’re on vacation and just want a nice jog instead of a marathon, the Outer Banks is a beautiful place to jog along the sand or any number of trails. Local running and fitness clubs recommend specific routes for those in search of a premium experience. Check out http://www.mapmyrun.com/ for more information.

As with any physical activity, please be sure you’re in reasonably good health before undertaking any exercise program. Stretch prior to your workout, dress appropriately, and stay hydrated.

After an exhilarating day testing your limits, nothing beats having your own private vacation home to wrap you in comfort. Why risk your money on crowded hotels when our choice properties offer so much value? After your run, cool off in your vacation rental’s private pool, or sit back and watch the ocean from your vacation home’s porch. Browse our site and reserve your spot today for best selection. We’ll see you soon along the Outer Banks.
