For larger extended family gatherings, Merrill's Mariner is right next door to Grandma's Cottage and Papa's Place, both of which are also in the CVR program. All just steps from the Atlantic Ocean in the heart of Nags Head! Cook at home in the gorgeous and well-equipped kitchen or walk to one of several excellent restaurants nearby. The hot tub is just off the main living space on the expansive wraparound porches. Walking distance to the Nags Head Fishing Pier and Dowdy Park/ the seasonal Dowdy Park Farmer's Market and a short drive to many local attractions like Nags Head Woods Nature Preserve, Jockey's Ridge State Park and the Wright Brother's National Monument.

This home was so well done. One of the cleanest rental properties we have ever walked into. Spacious for our large family and the location was so great, over the dune to beach and near restaurants and shopping. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to cook with, every utensil, pan you could want. The beds were comfortable, and the new decks were so great. Top deck was great for sunning. Thank you to Cola Vaughan and the owners for this wonderful place to stay. We hope to return next year!

You cannot go wrong renting this charming little oceanfront trinket by the sea. The cottage is spacious and gives plenty of room for 5 adults and family guests to stretch out, crack crabs, or just laze around at night watching tv with the family after a full day out on the beach. Well kept, brimming with nostalgia of Nag’s Head past right down to the weathered shingles and appropriately appointed with comfortable beach house furniture and beds. The outdoor shower is perfect for washing off the sand, and the oceanfront gazebo gave us much pleasure sitting out at night listening to the roar of the ocean. We were able to walk to almost everything because of its prime location and proximity to cafes, dining, and the Nag’s Head pier. One of the best places we’ve rented on the Outer Banks since we’ve been visiting since 2014.

We loved this great old house, so much charm and nice updates to kitchen and most bathrooms. The side porch with lounge swing, hot tub and plenty of seating was ideal for teen hangout spot, and front porch was super for cocktail hour and morning coffee. Our only suggestion would be to install a railing or rope to help us up the sandy dune to the gazebo. Steps would be even better!
We hope to return again in 2024.
