Our family had a wonderful time. Enjoyed walking on the beach and collecting shells. We had so much fun doing things together.

This cottage is appropriately priced, but photo’s should be updated. Interior was clean. There are 2 couches (not a sectional). Washer needs attention due to always off balance even with small loads. Exterior deck is as seen in photos minus the lattice screen on south side of deck. Ocean view (to the right)from deck was better than expected.There is heavy overgrowth of foliage along deck path to the cottage as well as over the dune to beach stairs. Must be careful due to thick, thorny overgrowth along walking paths. Once over the dune the ocean view is fabulous. There are no screens in the windows or sliding doors which make opening the house up to the sound of the ocean and fresh air impossible. Windows don’t stay open even if there were screens. I understand about the coastal weather taking a beating on beach homes, but this should be a maintenance requirement by the home owner to provide. Outside lower level also needs addressing. There is an outdoor shower below the house but getting there is not pleasant as well as the grilling area due to overgrowth. Front screen door is gone too. There is considerable road noise in the morning which is a problem for light sleepers. Awesome view of Jockey ‘s Ridge with beautiful sunsets. Cola Vaughan quickly addressed an unexpected loss of water due to a line breaking. Very happy with their professionalism, For the price this cottage was okay, but could be much better with some maintenance issues addressed. I think then there will be more positive reviews submitted.

I typically do not leave reviews, but in this case felt it was important so others are aware of our experience. Home was in less then acceptable cleanliness condition. And while the home is on the ocean, the dune in front of it blocks the view, If a small deck was built on top it would be wonderful. I have rented other homes in the OBX, and have always had a great experience. I could go on with details but I will stop here and just say I would not recommend renting this cottage.

Our stay at the Kite Flyer was the perfect experience! We truly appreciate the easy and kind responses from Cola Vaughan Realty! Our rental was clean and had everything we needed. The space was perfect for our family, and everything was in great working condition. It was especially nice to have brooms and a vacuum to tidy up throughout our stay. The location of this rental is a hidden gem with plenty of privacy and steps from the beach. There is no doubt we will return next year!
