Top Spring Events You Can’t Miss on the Outer Banks

Looking get away from familiar surroundings for a few days. The Outer Banks makes a great destination during those times, not only for summer vacations but also for shorter excursions. Plus, there are plenty of events scheduled along the Outer Banks throughout 2016. Here’s a look at some great things to do during March and April.

27th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Celebrate your Celtic heritage or simply join in the fun during this once-a-year celebration coming up in Nag’s Head on March 13th. After the parade, the party continues at Kelly’s Restaurant and Tavern, where you’ll enjoy green beer, all-you-can-eat hotdogs, and live music.

Taste of the Beach/Outer Banks Barbecue Showdown
Taste of the Beach is an annual celebration of all things Epicurean, with plenty of opportunities to sample local seafood, cheeses, spirits, and chowders. This year’s event is being held in Nags Head March 17th through the 20th. The Barbecue Showdown is on the 18th and features delectable pulled pork, scrumptious hot wings, super-saucy ribs, and other creations from the state dubbed the “BBQ Capital of the World.”

Outer Banks Wedding Showcase
The Outer Banks is a popular destination for couples looking to tie the knot. This year’s wedding showcase, scheduled for March 19th, promises to be the biggest and best yet, with everything you need to plan your big day under one roof. Meet with your future officiants, photographers, videographers, florists, event planners, and caterers, all while enjoying the spectacular beauty of the North Carolina coast. Best of all, it’s being held in the booming metropolis of Duck, North Carolina!

Spring Island Art Shows
This is a string of related events that are held in Rodanthe, a village on the northern end of Hatteras Island. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the creations of more than 20 local artists and craftspeople who work in a variety of mediums, including wood, sea glass, soap, and photography. The event will also feature live music and plenty of great food. The event is scheduled for March 25th.

Outer Banks Bike Week
Rev up your motorcycle and plan to attend the 14th annual Outer Banks Bike Fest. The festivities will go from April 16th through the 21st and include live music, bike shows, poker tournaments, and, of course, plenty of great food, alcohol, and live music. The event takes place in and around Harbinger, North Carolina.

Outer Banks Woofstock
While this may sound like an all-out hippiefest, the name is actually a clever pun used for one of the Southeast’s biggest and most popular events for dog owners. Bring your four-legged friend and prepare to enjoy contests, music, concessions and activities. The event will also feature booths and exhibits from dozens of pet-related vendors. Manteo, North Carolina is playing host to this event for 2016.
