South Nags Head is arguably the best location on the Outer Banks for a family vacation. Totally low density residential, enveloped by the Hatteras National Seashore yet only minutes from every commercial or recreational outlet, families will find the quiet low-traffic non-commercial atmosphere relaxing yet appreciate how easy it is to drive to the grocery store, restaurants, a movie or the putt-putt. The large multi-use path that parallels Old Oregon Inlet Road for its 4.5 mile length is great for biking, roller-blading or the walker in the family. Oregon Inlet, the boat ramps and fishing center are just a couple of miles south along with the deserted beaches in the undeveloped National Seashore.

DIRECTIONS

Sweet Retreat Is located on the Oceanside in Ocean Colony South Subdivision near the 21 Mile Post in South Nags Head. The cottage address is 213 East Altoona Street which is on the right (south) side of 213 East Altoona Street . Coming from the North by US 158, Drive South from the Wright Memorial Bridge for @ 16 miles until you get near the end of US 158 ( and the beginning of US 64 ) From this area ( locally called Whalebone Junction ) you will need to drive a block east over to access the north end of Old Oregon Inlet Road OR drive on south towards Hatteras on NC 12 @ 4 miles to access the south end of Old Oregon Inlet Road. You may get toEast Altoona Street by driving @ 3.5 miles south on Old Oregon Inlet Rd. It will be on your left just before East Seagull Street. You may also follow Highway 12 to the south towards Oregon Inlet and Hatteras for approx. 4 miles from the junction of US 64 &158 and turn left onto Old Oregon Inlet Rd. East Altoona Street East Seagull will be to your right approx. on half mile north, just past East Seagull. The cottage will be on right side of East Altoona Streetl about the 4th house in from Old Oregon Inlet Road.
